Myrtle Beach local answers

Frequently asked questions before moving to Myrtle Beach

What local places can I compare in Myrtle Beach?

The city information reviewed on September 24, 2026 described Myrtle Beach as a place where people live and visit. The oceanfront Boardwalk is one part of the city. Market Common is on the former Air Force base, which closed in 1993. That district has open space, recreation fields, a large lake and walking and bicycle trails. Compare the home’s exact location with the places you want to use; a city name does not tell you how far a home is from them.

About Myrtle Beach
Is every Myrtle Beach address inside city limits?

No. The Myrtle Beach home search includes addresses outside city limits. The city information reviewed on September 24, 2026 said the city stayed east of the Intracoastal Waterway except at Grande Dunes. The waterway is a water route inland from the ocean. Open the city map and check the exact address for city limits and zoning, the rules for how land can be used. A mailing name or search label does not establish those rules for a property.

Where can I get to the beach and parks in Myrtle Beach?

The September 24, 2026 review described the Boardwalk & Promenade from 16th Avenue North to First Avenue South. Grand Park at Market Common has sports fields, a lake and picnic shelters. Myrtle Beach State Park on South Kings Highway has about a mile of undeveloped beach, a fishing pier and coastal forest. Open the park or city link to check access, parking and rules before you go. A nearby home does not by itself include private access to these places.

What history can I see in Myrtle Beach?

Myrtle Beach incorporated in 1938 and became a city in 1957. Its train depot was built in 1937, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002, then restored and reopened in 2004. The National Register is a list of historic places. Myrtle Beach State Park opened in 1936 as South Carolina’s first state park; it was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps. These are place-history facts from the September 24, 2026 review, not a historic status or building rule for every home.

Which schools serve Myrtle Beach homes?

Horry County Schools runs the public schools. Enter the exact home address in its Find My School lookup to check assignment. A Myrtle Beach mailing name does not tell you which school serves a home. This guide does not promise an assignment or a school result.

How do I check flood zone, taxes and airport drive time for a Myrtle Beach home?

Use the flood section with the exact address. It checks FEMA flood-map data; FEMA is the federal agency that maps flood zones. Use the tax section to estimate Horry County property taxes, not a final bill. The airport directions link starts with Myrtle Beach as a sample starting point. Change the start to the home’s address before comparing the drive. The Census average travel time to work, 17.7 minutes for 2020–2024, is a dated city figure, not your trip time.
