Frequently asked questions before moving to Downtown Conway

How does this home search relate to historic Downtown Conway?

Downtown Conway is the Main Street business area beside the Waccamaw River. South Carolina's historic-district information says many business buildings date from about 1900 to 1940, after an 1897 fire. This home search can reach beyond the historic district. Open the visitor link, then compare each home's map location and address. A Downtown Conway search label does not establish historic status or city services for a property.

How do I get from Main Street to the Riverwalk?

In the September 24, 2026 review, the City described a 2025 Riverwalk entrance near Kingston Street and Fourth Avenue linking Main Street with the riverfront. South Carolina Trails listed a trailhead on 2nd Avenue, just off US 501, and dawn-to-dusk hours. Open the trail link for posted directions, access information and any listed closures before a visit. Compare those entrances with the home's address; a nearby listing does not promise a private route to the river.

Which historic landmarks can I research downtown?

The Downtown Historic District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994. It includes the 1825 Old Horry County Courthouse, identified as City Hall in the September 24, 2026 review. Nearby river warehouses include a steamer terminal dating from about 1880; a steamer is a boat powered by steam. Open the district record. Confirm historic-property rules for the exact home; nearby landmarks do not establish that the home has historic status.

How do I check current downtown events?

Conway Downtown Alive promotes the district and is one of Main Street South Carolina's founding programs. The September 24, 2026 review noted its events calendar and the Chamber of Commerce's Riverfest, held since 1980, with past river races, music and fireworks. Those descriptions do not promise this year's dates or program. Open the events calendar to plan a visit and check event details separately from a home's amenities.

How do I check flood information for a downtown home?

City information reviewed on September 24, 2026 said its riverfront parks were designed to flood. Past high water had closed parts of Riverfront Park and the marina boat ramp. Those park reports do not settle flood risk for every home in this search. Enter the exact home's address in the flood tool below. FEMA is the federal agency that maps flood zones. Check insurance costs and property-specific records separately; a map is not a promise that a home will never flood.

Which schools serve downtown Conway homes?

Horry County Schools organizes schools into nine attendance areas, including Conway. Check the district lookup to confirm the assignment for each address.
