Place context

About Atlantic Beach.

Atlantic Beach is a small incorporated town in Horry County, on the Grand Strand between North Myrtle Beach and Myrtle Beach. The Census Bureau records it as an incorporated place (GEOID 4503205) with about 0.16 square miles of land. Its for-sale search includes vacant land as well as homes; the listing count is not a count of houses.

The Town of Atlantic Beach describes it as a historic African American community founded in the 1930s as a seaside retreat where Black travelers could enjoy the coast free from segregation, and one of the last remaining Black-owned beach communities in the United States.

A Census municipal boundary is not the same as an Atlantic Beach mailing address. Forturro does not publish a full community guide for the town, so this page and the home search use the MLS city field, and school assignment, flood zone and taxes depend on the exact property address.
